Zoning By-law 26-007 (Form-Based Residential Zones)

Phase One of the City of Cambridge Comprehensive Zoning By-law 26-007  came into effect on February 3, 2026. It regulates certain residential land uses and provides updated regulations on buildings and structures, lot location (sheds and decks), building height, parking, and landscaping requirements.

Zoning By-law 150-85 (2012 Consolidation)

The City of Cambridge Zoning By-law 150-85, as amended, came into effect on May 25, 1987. It regulates all other land uses, including residential lands deferred from Phase One of the City’s Comprehensive Zoning By-law. It provides regulations for the location of buildings and structures (sheds and decks), building height, density, parking facilities and landscaping to ensure orderly development.

Zoning By-law Amendments

Zoning by-law amendment applications amend the City of Cambridge Zoning By-law to allow a use which the by-law does not currently allow or change specific zone regulations. Zoning By-Law Amendment Applications can be submitted through the City of Cambridge Online Applications Portal.

Committee of Adjustment 

The Committee of Adjustment is a body appointed by Council made up of five members from the community.
