Council Orientation

This program represents a new approach to Council training. In addition to the initial Module 1 sessions outlined below, additional learning modules will be provided over the coming months, followed by regular workshop and training opportunities throughout the 2026-2030 term. Some sessions will focus on strategic priorities and leadership development, while others will provide education on specific topics, legislative changes, emerging issues, or matters coming before Council. This continuous learning model is intended to support Council members throughout their term, as well as strengthen Council's effectiveness as a governing body by encouraging and facilitating alignment.

To support transparency and public engagement, all training sessions, with the exception of a portion of the November 26 session, will be held in Open Session. This provides residents with an opportunity to observe the learning process, gain a better understanding of municipal governance, and participate in applicable educational opportunities alongside Council.

Orientation meetings and agendas can be found on our Council Calendar.
