Request New Service Connection - Water, Wastewater, Stormwater

Starting the process

To request new municipal water, wastewater, or stormwater services, please email engineering@cambridge.ca to obtain an application. A fee of $270 + HST applies.

Please include a proposed servicing drawing with your application. Only the City is permitted to complete work within the municipal right‑of‑way (ROW); private contractors may not work in the ROW without City approval. If your property is located on a Regional road, you must also obtain approval from the Region of Waterloo.

Engineering and Environmental Services staff will complete a site visit to determine expected labour, materials and equipment needs. You do not need to be present. You will receive a written estimate outlining expected costs. Final costs may change based on conditions during construction.

Proceeding with servicing

If you accept the estimate, full payment is required before work is scheduled.

How to pay

  • By cheque, payable to The City of Cambridge
  • Drop off at the Service Cambridge Desk, 1st floor, City Hall include the Estimate Letter and signed Declaration page
  • Or mail/courier to:
    Engineering Department
    50 Dickson Street, Cambridge, ON N1R 5W8

Construction

Service installations typically occur six to eight weeks after payment. Timelines may vary based on emergencies or priority work.

The City will arrange all utility locates. After installation to the property line, the City will complete required restoration (roadway, curb, sidewalk, etc.).

Final invoice

After installation and restoration are complete, the Tax & Water Department will send you a final invoice.
