Activities Guide & Program Registration

The City of Cambridge’s Spring and Summer Activities Guide, which features programming at facilities across the city, is now available!

From swimming to sculpture, soccer to STEAM, there is a course for anyone at any age. The guide also includes information about City services and local businesses.

Pick up your copy at City Hall, the Cambridge Farmers Market, all City recreation centres and arenas, Cambridge Public Library locations, and neighbourhood associations. You can also browse programs online at cambridge.ca/CORAL.

Registration opens to Cambridge residents on Wednesday, March 25. Registration opens to anyone from neighbouring municipalities one week later on April 1.

Registration dates for Cambridge residents:

Registration dates for non-Cambridge residents:
Wednesday, April 1, 7 a.m. – Spring aquatic programs
Wednesday, April 1, 8:30 a.m. – All other Spring and Summer programs

50+ Recreation Centres offer a variety of great activities for active older adults. Whether you are looking to get fit or stay fit, learn a new instrument or art form, expand your knowledge or enjoy a friendly game of cards, we have something for everyone.

50+ Programs

The Cambridge 50+ Recreation Centres offer registered and drop-in programs. You can register online or in person at any of our recreation centres. The majority of these programs continue year-round.

50+ Clubs

Cambridge 50+ Woodworkers

The Cambridge 50+ Woodworkers Club provides members of our community, aged 50 and over, the opportunity to pursue their woodworking hobby in a shared space workshop. With two well equipped shops, in the core of Preston and Galt, you have the use of professional woodworking equipment, sandpaper, screws, and glue to build your project. 

How to become a member:

  • Cambridge 50+ Recreation Centre Member
  • September 1 to August 31 pay the $75 Club Membership 
  • April 1 to August 31 pay the $40 Club Membership (new members only)

Cambridge 50+ Choir

The Cambridge 50+ Choir started in 1992 and is still going strong with over 50 choir members. In addition to our annual concerts, we entertain at Retirement & Long Term Care facilities around the area. We lift hearts, get toes tapping, bring back memories and make new ones.

 How to become a member:

  • Cambridge 50+ Recreation Centre Member
  • Starting in September $15 per month paid to the choir.
  • Choir practices for 10 months/year.
  • Practice each Friday  9:30 a.m. – 11:30 a.m.

Ancient Mariners Canoe Club (AMCC)

AMCC paddles Tuesday mornings and some Wednesday mornings from May into October, mainly on the Grand River but also on some smaller rivers, such as the Speed, Nith, Conestoga and Eramosa. Spring training includes refreshers for all members. Various committees – equipment, safety, training, social, membership, and program – keep things organized. AMCC also has many socials and getaways. 

How to become a member:

  • New members join in the fall and complete training in the fall and the spring

  • Age 55 or older

Cardio Sculpt

A generous mix of cardiovascular and muscle sculpting exercises. Supports fat burning and building lean muscles. 

H.i.i.T (High Intensity Interval Training)

High energy combination class of muscular endurance, core, cardio, and a relaxing end of class stretch. 

Step

Full cardio workout that blends basic moves and new patterns. Options are provided for all levels. 

Tabata

Tabata is a style of high-intensity interval training that involves 20 seconds of exercise at your maximum effort, followed by 10 seconds of rest, for a number of rounds. 

Total Body Core

A full-body workout focused on strengthening the core, improving balance, and building overall strength through functional movements. 

Total Body Sculpt

A variety of equipment such as weights and resistance equipment are used to give your muscles a solid strength and endurance workout.

 Please note:

  • Student Conditioning Room pass is the same price as an adult.
  • Senior Conditioning Room pass must possess a current City of Cambridge 50+ membership.

Conditioning Centre Guidelines

  • Open to participants ages 13 years and older.
  • Conditioning Centres are unsupervised – use at your own risk
  • Share equipment between sets
  • Limit time on cardio equipment to 30 minutes when others are waiting
  • Put weights and equipment away immediately after use
  • Use personal listening devices only
  • Keep the facility scent free
  • Wipe down equipment after use
  • Report any equipment malfunctions to staff immediately
  • Keep torso covered while working out
  • No street shoes – use separate athletic shoes that have not been worn outside
  • Refrain from eating in the conditioning centre
  • Report any injuries or accidents to staff immediately

Notice: To ensure the well-being of Conditioning Centre patrons the rooms are monitored by video cameras. Ask at the main reception for further information.

Children Programs

We are a committed member and accredited organization of HIGH FIVE—a province-wide quality assurance program designed to support the safety, well-being, and healthy development of children in sport and recreation programs.

Youth Programs

Cambridge has many recreational opportunities for youth in the community.

Leader In Training Camp

This camp allows youth ages 13-15 years to act as assistants to Camp Leaders and will have the opportunity to receive training and certifications in HIGH FIVE, Emergency First Aid, and Safeguard training. Youth Friendly Community Recognition
The City of Cambridge was awarded the Youth Friendly Community Recognition Award through Play Works for providing youth (ages 13 to 19) opportunities and activities for growth and development.
