Business Plan

The City's Business Plan and Corporate Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) are tools used to measure and manage performance under the City's Strategic Plan – Cambridge Connected

The Strategic Plan outlines the direction and goals of the City (where we want to go) and the Business Plan identifies the projects and initiatives which will help us achieve the strategy (how we will get there). The Business Plan also helps to identify how we will maintain and improve the City's services residents rely on each day.

The City measures its success in achieving the Business Plan by tracking Key Performance Indicators (KPIs). KPIs are measurable indicators that show how well the City is performing against established targets. They help monitor service delivery trends over time and show how current performance aligns with Council‑approved plans, such as master plans, growth forecasts, and the Strategic Plan.

Statistical information helps the City track activity levels over time and understand the impact of changes or trends. These trends can highlight where financial or human resources may need to be adjusted. Using statistics and KPIs alongside business and budget planning improves resource alignment and provides valuable information to support decision‑making and identify opportunities for service improvements.
