City receives Canadian Award for Financial Reporting for ninth consecutive year
The City of Cambridge has once again been recognized for its excellence in financial reporting, receiving the Canadian Award for Financial Reporting (CAnFR) from the Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada (GFOA). This marks the ninth consecutive year the City has earned this honour.
The award acknowledges the City’s 2023 Annual Financial Report, which was assessed by impartial Canadian Review Committee members. The report met the program's high standards, demonstrating a clear and comprehensive presentation of the City’s financial story. By embracing a “spirit of full disclosure,” the report aims to inform and engage readers, ensuring transparency and accountability in municipal financial practices.
Receiving this award represents a significant accomplishment and demonstrates the City’s ongoing commitment to the responsible management of its financial resources, ensuring transparency and accountability – a key principle of the City’s Strategic Plan - Cambridge Connected. The City’s finance team works hard to deliver reports that are accessible and transparent for residents, and this recognition highlights those efforts.
The Canadian Award for Financial Reporting Program encourages municipalities to produce high-quality financial reports while providing peer recognition and technical guidance to support their development. Winning this award is a significant achievement for local governments and their management teams.
