About Cambridge

The Province of Ontario formed the City of Cambridge on January 1, 1973. The former communities of Galt, Preston, Hespeler, and Blair make up the current city of Cambridge. The history of the area dates back to a much earlier time.

Today, Cambridge is a modern city with a rich architectural heritage. Cambridge is now the second largest community within Waterloo Region. This is partly due to our strong economy and culture.

The City's vision, together with our values and corporate mission provides the foundation for all of the work that we do.

Strategic Plan

Our Strategic Plan also serves as a base for decision making in the City. In support of this plan, the City prepares an annual Business Plan identifying how we will meet our goals and a Year in Review report that measures City achievements from the past year.
