City of Cambridge will offer reduced recreation swim activities this summer at our three outdoor pools.  All swims are subject to admission rules and capacity restrictions. See fees and memberships for rates.

Recreational Swim - Pandemic Health & Safety Guidelines

Recreational Swims will be modified to follow guidelines and health precautions as set out by the Province of Ontario and the Waterloo Regional Public Health Unit. Please view our video or read the list below before joining us for your swim.

  1. All programs will have a maximum capacity based on physical distancing requirements. Customers are encouraged to book their spot in advance.
  2. Mandatory active screening, contact information and attendance for all guests is required. You can find the screening questionnaire at cambridge.ca/screening.
  3. There will be NO locker facilities. Be prepared to enter the facility with your bathing suit on.
  4. The admissions desk will open approximately 10 minutes before the start of the program. Upon entering, follow the arrows on the pool deck.
  5. Customers will have 5 minutes to leave the pool deck after the end of the swim, and will exit the pool deck from the designated exit point.
  6. There will be NO equipment for use. Swimmers may bring their own equipment (e.g., flutter board, noodle) for swims. All pool equipment must be approved by aquatic staff. Equipment will need to be kept with you at all times and cannot be shared with people not in your household.
  7. A designated area for your deck bag will be available but will need to be 6 feet away from others.
  8. Shower facilities are to be used before entering the pool. Bathrooms will be available for as needed. This area will be limited to one customer or household at a time.
  9. Please note the directional signage on the pool deck and other areas you may be in. Physical distancing requirements per Ontario government recommendations will be enforced.
  10. Recreational Swims – Swim Admission Process guidelines apply to swimming.
  11. Lane Swims – Participants may not stop at the end of the lane if a customer is stopped in the lane on either side of them.
  12. Aquafitness classes - There is limited number of shallow and deep end spots available for each class.  There will be no equipment used in the workout, aquafit belts will be cleaned and sanitized after each use.
  13. PPE should be worn according to “The Regional Municipality of Waterloo By-law requiring the wearing of face coverings in enclosed public places” (e.g., masks) however they pose a safety risk if covering your mouth and nose while wet and such masks cannot be worn when you are swimming.

Swim Descriptions

Lane Swim

Lanes are open for lane swimming. Whether you swim slow, medium or fast, we have a lane to suit your needs. Lane etiquette must be followed.  Capacity: 3 people to a lane

Splash Swim

Enjoy this opportunity for multi-use of the pool.  Including unstructured playtime for children accompanied by a caregiver, adult leisure swim and lanes available for lane swim.  Lifejackets may be used in the deep end. Children under 18 years of age must swim with someone 18 years of age or older. Swim Admission Process still applies. Capacity: bathers based on facility

Leisure Swim

Come spend time playing and enjoying the water. All ages are welcome and the diving board is open for use. Swim Admission Process applies. Capacity: bathers based on facility

AquaCombo

Water exercise is a good fit for everyBODY. These classes will energize you while they improve your fitness in a gravity-reduced, resistive environment. Each workout includes warm-up, cardiovascular exercise, muscle conditioning and stretch.  The AquaCombo class will transition from chest deep to deep water, with the option to work exclusively at your preferred depth. Capacity: bathers based on facility to accommodate 2 meters physical distancing

AquaDeep

There is no access to shallow water in the outdoor pool classes. Deep water aqua fitness improves balance, while it challenges cardio and core strength in a zero-gravity environment.  No swimming skill is required, but you should be comfortable in deep water.  Flotation belts are provided.  AquaDeep can provide a new challenge to your land based training, or expand your aqua fitness skills. Capacity: bathers based on facility to accommodate 2 meters physical distancing
