The City of Cambridge offers a wide variety of drop-in skate and hockey programs. Whether you are interested in shinny, stick and puck or a public skate, we have something for everyone.  

Before you are ready to lace up at our arenas, please note: 

  • All skating programs require you to pre-register. Capacity limits are enforced. 
  • The admissions desk will open approximately 15 minutes before the start of the program
  • Designated dressing rooms may be made available for changing, tying of skates etc. The City of Cambridge is not responsible for any lost or stolen articles
  • All instructions provided by skate patrol and facility staff are to be respected and followed
  • Only persons wearing skates are permitted on the ice. Boots and shoes are not permitted.
  • Skaters 6 years and younger must be accompanied and supervised on the ice by a parent/guardian 18 and over
  • All accidents and injuries must be reported to skate patrol or facility staff
  • No objects or persons are permitted to be on the ice when the Zamboni is resurfacing.
  • The use of sticks, pucks or balls outside of the ice area is strictly prohibited
  • Food/drinks are not permitted on the ice

Public skate programs are currently limited due to increased demand. To avoid disappointment, please ensure to register before visiting. All public and noon skates, stick and puck, ticket ice and 55+ shinny programs are available to register through our CORAL website

Equipment Rentals

Skate rentals are available at Hespeler Arena and Galt Arena during Sunday and Thursday public skate September 1 - April 15. In order to rent equipment, customers must exchange their shoes/boots.

Skate and Helmet rentals are available at the following Public Skates:

  • Galt Arena, Thursdays 4:30 - 6:00 p.m.
  • Galt Arena, Sundays 10:30 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.
  • Hespeler Arena, Sundays 2:00 - 3:30 p.m.

The cost to rent are as follows: Skates - $3.00, Helmet - $2.00

Program Descriptions and Schedules

Capacity is limited. Please register before you visit to avoid disappointment.  

Recreation staff will be provide all paid customers with wrist bands which must kept on until the end of the skate.

Enjoy free public skating sessions, offered in partnership with our community sponsors. Advanced registration is not required. Regular public skate rules will apply.
