Preston Memorial Auditorium Grand Opening Postponed

The community is invited to enjoy a full day of hockey and free popcorn at Galt Arena Gardens

Due to construction delays, the City of Cambridge has decided to postpone the grand opening of the Preston Memorial Auditorium, originally scheduled for Saturday, September 27.

Construction projects of this scale can often experience unforeseen challenges and the City is committed to ensuring the site is fully complete, fully operational, and ready for public use before holding the official opening event. The City is also working closely with user groups to coordinate preparations and ensure the facility meets the needs of all intended participants.

“While we are eager to celebrate this outstanding new space with the community, our first priority is to deliver a completed facility that will serve residents for many years to come.” said Mayor Jan Liggett.

A new date for the official grand opening event will be determined once occupancy permits are in place. Groups who were scheduled to begin programming in October will be contacted by city staff. Every effort will be made to ensure alternative solutions are in place until the building is fully operational.

Anyone planning to attend the grand opening can still enjoy a full day of community fun and entertainment as the Cambridge Rivulettes home opener game will take place this Saturday, September 27 at the Galt Arena at 3 p.m. and the Cambridge Redhawks (admission applies) take to the ice at 7 p.m. Free popcorn is being provided to attendees while supplies last.
