City announces sponsorship for Preston Memorial Auditorium First Aid Room

The City of Cambridge is pleased to announce Ball Construction as the naming sponsor of the Preston Memorial Auditorium First Aid Room.

“I’m appreciative of Ball Construction’s investment in our community,” said Mayor Jan Liggett. “We are glad they share our commitment to the health and safety of all players, visitors and residents who may need assistance in a private space while in our newly renovated facility. Having fun and safe places to recreate is all part of the Cambridge Experience.”

The Ball Construction First Aid Room will be a place for people to receive immediate treatment after a fall or mishap. Ball Construction donated $7,500 for the naming rights of the First Aid Room in the Preston Memorial Auditorium.

Renovations to the Preston Memorial Auditorium began in the fall of 2023. Improvements are being made to the existing change rooms, ice pad, ice resurfacing room and other amenities. As well, an NHL size ice pad, seating, changerooms, washrooms, multipurpose rooms and office space are being added. Construction is expected to be finished this fall, with a grand opening celebration planned for Saturday, September 27, 2025.

"As the original builders of the Preston Aud back in 1972, it’s only fitting to be back over 50 years later to expand the building with this renovation. Having the Ball Construction First Aid Room is a great way to leave a permanent mark on this state-of-the-art building that will serve families for years to come,” said Rod Aitken, Vice President, Ball Construction.

This sponsorship is part of Play it Forward Cambridge, the City’s fundraising campaign to support the capital costs of renovations at the Preston Memorial Auditorium, as well as construction of the Cambridge Soccer Complex and the Cambridge Recreation Complex.
