The City is serving up fun with Racquet in the Square
Get in the game at Civic Square on August 13!
The City of Cambridge is inviting residents and visitors to come make a racket in downtown Cambridge at Racquet in the Square, a new community event featuring a variety of opportunities to try different racquet sports, connect with local clubs, and enjoy a friendly match.
City Hall's Civic Square will be transformed into a vibrant hub of sport, recreation and community connection on Thursday, August 13 from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Visitors can try squash on an interactive court provided by Squash Ontario and explore other racquet sports, including pickleball, badminton, ping pong and tennis.
"Whether you're a practiced player or trying a racquet sport for the first time, this event is a wonderful opportunity to bring our community together," said Mayor Jan Liggett. "I invite residents and visitors to join for a day of activity, connection and to truly take in the Cambridge experience."
Racquet in the Square is designed to help people of all ages and skill levels discover racquet sports in a fun, welcoming and inclusive environment. Visitors can drop by at any time during the day to watch demonstrations and live play, try different racquet activities themselves, enjoy entertainment, purchase a bite to eat, and learn about racquet sports.
"Creating opportunities for residents to gather, be active and experience our public spaces in new ways is an important part of building a vibrant community," said City Manager Rob Axiak. "We are grateful to Squash Ontario, Tennis Ontario, Grand River Rapids, and all our event partners for helping bring this exciting event to life."
