The City is looking for feedback on Property Standards and Lot Maintenance by-laws

The City of Cambridge is conducting a review of our Property Standards and Lot Maintenance by-laws, and we want to hear from you! These by-laws set out the rules for maintenance of buildings and yards in Cambridge, to make sure they are well cared for, safe and free from hazards.

The Property Standards By-law outlines rules that ensure buildings are safe and well maintained, both inside and out. This includes making sure there are no structural issues and that heating, plumbing, and electrical systems are working properly. The Lot Maintenance By-law sets the standards for keeping yards clean and safe. Property owners are responsible for maintaining their outdoor spaces by cutting long grass, removing weeds, and cleaning up garbage and pet waste. These rules help protect public health and support a high quality of life for everyone in the community.
