Riverside Bike Park a summer hot spot for riders of all ages
Located within Riverside Park in the Preston area of Cambridge, the bike park attracts a steady stream of visitors seeking an active outdoor experience. From first-time riders finding their balance to experienced cyclists taking on the jumps and pump track, families can often be seen riding together or cheering from the sidelines as friends and family try new challenges.
The park's variety of features allows riders to progress at their own pace, with a beginner asphalt track, novice pump track, intermediate track and two advanced tracks. Young riders can often be seen practicing on the beginner sections, while more experienced cyclists navigate the park's more challenging features.
The bike park has served the community for more than a decade. Opened in 2012, it was developed through a collaborative effort involving the IBI Group, City of Cambridge staff, including the City's Landscape Architect and Recreation Coordinator, along with interested community members. The original park design was funded through the Provincial Healthy Communities Fund 2010/2011.
The facility is one example of Cambridge's ongoing commitment to providing parks and recreation spaces that support active living and outdoor recreation.
As the season continues, the City encourages residents to explore the bike park, Riverside Park and the many other outdoor spaces available throughout Cambridge.
Riverside Bike Park is open seasonally from 9 a.m. to dusk, weather permitting. To learn more, visit cambridge.ca/BikePark.
