Rain didn’t ruffle feathers: Goose on the Grand a Honking Success
A little rain didn’t stop the crowds from flocking down to Goose on the Grand on Sunday, June 14.
Hundreds were in attendance as the City celebrated the unveiling of five new goose sculptures, each decorated with a theme to highlight key community areas. More sculptures are in the works, too, with seven more geese expected to land around the city over the coming months.
The highlight of the day was the duck race where 1,400 rubber ducks took to the Grand River for a race to the finish. After splashing down from the Park Hill Bridge, the ducks were collected as they passed the Main Street Bridge. More than just a quacking good time, the duck race served as a fundraiser for the Rotary Club of Cambridge. More than 800 ducks were purchased, raising more than $5,000 for the Rotary Club.
A special thanks goes to Cambridge Today for helping share the story as the media sponsor for the event.
