PUBLIC NOTICE: Number of Offices - Municipal Election Act, 1996

Take note that pursuant to Section 33 (1) of the Municipal Elections Act 1996, any person who intends to be a candidate for any of the following offices:

Mayor
Ward Councillor (8 Wards)
English Public School Trustee (3 Members)
English Separate School Trustee (3 Members)
Conseil Scolaire Catholique Monavenir (1 Member)
Conseil Scolaire Viamonde (1 Member)
Regional Chair (1 Member)
Regional Councillor (2 Members)

Must complete and file a nomination form between Friday, May 1, 2026, and Nomination Day, Friday, August 21, 2026, at 2:00 p.m.  It should be noted that contributions and campaign expenses shall only be accepted after a candidate is nominated for that office. 

Nomination forms will be available for pickup from Thursday, April 23, 2026, at City Hall – 1st Floor, 50 Dickson Street, Cambridge, Ontario, during regular working hours (Monday to Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.). The filing fee is $200.00 for the Office of the Mayor and $100.00 for any other office.  Payment must be made by cash, debit card, certified cheque or money order. Credit card, personal cheque or other forms of payment will not be accepted. 

To file a nomination with the City of Cambridge, Candidates must book a one-hour appointment (in-person) with the City Clerk through the Nomination Bookings page, which will be available on the City of Cambridge’s website on Monday, April 27, 2026 at 12:01 a.m. Nominations are not considered registered until a meeting has occurred with Clerk, payment has been accepted and the Clerk has signed the nomination form.

Nomination forms for Region of Waterloo offices are available through the office of the Regional Clerk, 150 Frederick Street, Kitchener, Ontario, during regular working hours (Monday to Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.).

Nominations for Conseil scolaire catholique MonAvenir school board trustees are available through the office of the City Clerk at the City of Kitchener,200 King Street West, Kitchener, Ontario, and nomination for Conseil scolaire Viamonde school board trustees are available through the office of the City Clerk at the City of London, 300 Dufferin Avenue, London, Ontario , during regular working hours (Monday to Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.).
