PUBLIC NOTICE - Notice of Passing of Heritage Designation By-laws

UNDER THE ONTARIO HERITAGE ACT

TAKE NOTICE that the Council of the Corporation of the City of Cambridge passed the following by-laws on June 23, 2026, designating the properties below as having cultural heritage value or interest under Part IV, Section 29 of the Ontario Heritage Act, R.S.O. 1990, c. O.18.

By-law No. 26-053 – 78 Barrie Street
1898 Edwardian style red-brick house associated with former Mayor of Galt, Robert Gilholm, and local businessman, Henry Dakin.

By-law No. 26-054 – 745 Chilligo Road
Mid-19th century Mennonite Georgian dwelling associated with John Strohm Clemens, farmer and co-owner of Fisher’s Mills.

By-law No. 26-055 – 24-28 Queens Square
1882 high Victorian Gothic brick building associated with Dr. George Sylvester.

By-law No. 26-056 – 82 Glenmorris Street
c.1878 Queen Anne-style limestone house associated with Galt mill owner George Hogg.

By-law No. 26-060 – 295 Ainslie Street South
c.1890 red-brick industrial building associated with the Galt Knife Company.

By-law No. 26-061 – 704 Eagle Street North
c.1924 three-storey red-brick mansion and building complex associated with Frank Hedley Pattinson, the Pattinson Woolen Mills business, and the Golden Years Nursing Home (1963-2025).

Objections: Any person may appeal these by-laws to the Ontario Land Tribunal (OLT) by notifying the Ontario Land Tribunal and the Clerk of the Corporation of the City of Cambridge in writing within 30 days after the publication of this notice.
