Major milestone reached in Black Bridge construction project
The City of Cambridge is celebrating an exciting milestone in the Black Bridge Road bridge project.
Crews have successfully installed the primary support on the new bridge structure. At the same time, the renovation and rehabilitation of the original heritage bridge is underway. Once complete, the restored bridge will provide a safe and accessible crossing for pedestrians and cyclists over the Speed River.
Work on both the new bridge structure and the existing structure is focused on improving safety, upgrading infrastructure, and preserving an important piece of Hespeler’s character. When construction is finished, residents and visitors can look forward to the return of the scenic Black Bridge Road drive, along with new cycling and pedestrian features.
The project is expected to be completed later this year.
