Game, set, match! Racquet in the Square scores points with residents

Civic Square was transformed into a sportsplex on Thursday, as Racquet in the Square served up a new event in Downtown Cambridge.

Residents and visitors had the chance to play squash, pickleball, badminton and table tennis, and show off their best tennis serve at various courts and activations in and around Civic Square. Instructors were on hand to provide demonstrations and tips, and Cambridge’s professional pickleball team Grand River Rapids showed what it takes to play at a national level.

“We were glad to be invited as part of Racket and Square. It's a great way to introduce pickleball to the community and get people involved and engaged with pickleball, which is the fastest growing sport actually worldwide,” said Tony Camilo, general manager of the Grand River Rapids.
