Free trees available for Cambridge residents
The City is once again giving away free trees this fall to help grow the tree canopy in Cambridge. 150 trees will be handed out to Cambridge residents on Saturday, September 26, 2026, from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. at the 102 Sheffield St. parking lot near Mill Run Trailhead.
Residents can choose from three tree species — sugar maple, paper birch and eastern redbud — available on a first-come, first-served basis while supplies last. No registration is required, but proof of a Cambridge address must be shown. One tree is available per person and address.
The free tree giveaway is part of the City’s ongoing effort to encourage residents to plant trees on their properties and support a greener, healthier Cambridge. Trees can help improve air quality, support biodiversity, provide shade and contribute to the city’s urban canopy.
