DEVELOPMENT NOTICE - Public Meeting - OP03/25 City-initiated Official Plan Amendment for Parkland Dedication Policy
The City has initiated an Official Plan Amendment to update the Parkland Dedication policies of the Official Plan. This policy amendment applies city-wide. Statuory Public Meeting to be held on July 15, 2025 at 6:30 p.m. in Council Chambers.
Official Plan Amendment
The proposed Official Plan Amendment is a technical amendment to the Official Plan to update the parkland dedication policies for consistency with the Planning Act as it was modified through Bill 23, More Homes Built Faster Act, 2022. Bill 23 reduced the alternative parkland dedication rate and the cash in lieu of parkland rates. This amendment will ensure that the City’s Official Plan is in conformity with the Planning Act and contains the appropriate policies to allow for the use of the alternative rate. Parkland dedication is a tool used by the City as a condition of development or redevelopment, plan of subdivision or consents to acquire land for parks and other public recreational purposes.
