Community chosen Willard Park playground is now open!

The City of Cambridge is celebrating the opening of the new treehouse themed Willard Park playground!  

No swings or slides were chosen by chance! Throughout the planning and design process, families, caregivers, and park users shared their ideas and feedback, helping to shape a welcoming space that supports recreation, and connection for children and families.  

Community input guided key decisions, including the selection of the Forest Tree House concept, which received 70 per cent of the public vote. Inspired by nature-based play, the final design reflects community priorities for inclusive and accessible play opportunities, while creating spaces that encourage children to play, explore, and connect. Accessibility features include barrier-free access points, accessible pathways, inclusive play opportunities, and sensory play elements designed to create a more welcoming experience for people of all ages and abilities. 

From climbing through the Forest Tree House to exploring inclusive play features, the renewed playground offers new opportunities for play and imagination. Come visit Willard Park and experience the community-inspired space for yourself!
