City of Cambridge wins prestigious MarCom Awards for excellence in communication
The City of Cambridge has been internationally recognized with three MarCom awards and an honourable mention, as selected by the 2025 MarCom Awards committee.
The MarCom Awards honours excellence in marketing and communication while recognizing the creativity, hard work, and generosity of industry professionals. Since its inception in 2004, MarCom has evolved into one of the largest, most respected creative competitions in the world, with approximately 7,000 entries submitted each year from dozens of countries.
The City’s recognized work includes the prestigious Platinum Award under the Integrated Marketing category for the newly created ‘W.I.T.Y. the Budget Bot’ campaign. The City introduced W.I.T.Y. (an acronym for What’s Important To You) to the community as a fun and accessible way for the public to engage and share feedback on the 2026 Mayor’s Budget. The Platinum Award is the highest distinction in the competition, representing projects that are judged to be among the most outstanding in the world in terms of quality, creativity, and resourcefulness.
The City’s communications team also took home two Gold MarCom awards for their work in special event marketing for Canada Day, and the Human City video series – which celebrates Cambridge’s people, places and community spirit. The Pause Before You Park campaign, aimed at improving parking safety and awareness around accessible spaces, also received honourable mention.
“These awards highlight the creativity and dedication of our Communications team in finding new ways to connect with residents and celebrate what makes Cambridge unique. Their work ensures our community stays informed, engaged, and proud of the city we call home,” said Mayor Jan Liggett.
“I’m incredibly proud of our Communications team for earning this prestigious international recognition. Their skills, innovation, and relentless dedication to meaningful storytelling shine through in everything they do,” said Alana Russell, Director of Communications. “This award is a reflection of their hard work, creativity, and the high standards they bring to representing the City of Cambridge both locally and now on the world stage.”
