City expands online voting hotline in final week before election day
The City of Cambridge is launching an expanded online voting hotline in response to questions and feedback from residents who may experience challenges navigating the voting process online.
Anyone who needs help voting online can call the election hotline at 519-513-6415, Monday to Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Saturday and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Additional staff have been made available to help assist voters with navigating the online system. The hotline can also be used to clarify what is needed to vote online and ask any questions; they can also call it to confirm their voter status and ward or schedule in-person online voting assistance.
“We want to support voters in using our online voting system and ensure everyone has the opportunity to vote securely online or in person this election,” said Jennifer Shaw, Director of Legislative Services / City Clerk. “As advanced polls are now complete, we want to make sure residents can get answers quickly and feel confident participating in this year’s election either online or in person at their local poll on October 26.”
Municipal elections have a direct impact on the services and decisions closest to home. The City is responsible for many of the services that impact everyday life, including roads, parks, recreation programs, fire services, and planning decisions. Voting is your opportunity to help shape the decisions that affect your neighbourhood, community, and city.
To date, 6,213 ballots have been cast across the city including 2,273 votes at advanced polls and nearly 3,000 online votes. An additional 757 have registered and been approved for online voting, but have not yet submitted a ballot. The City hopes to see an increase in overall voter turnout in 2026.
If you’re registered to vote and have received your voter information in the mail, you can vote online from anywhere with an internet connection until October 26 at 8 p.m. Residents looking for step-by-step guidance with online voting can call the hotline, or watch the instructional videos on the City’s YouTube channel. City staff are also available to assist by email at election@cambridge.ca or in person at city hall, where residents can access tablets to cast their online ballot and receive support with the online voting process if needed.
