Cambridge Mayor Jan Liggett hosts 2025 Auto Mayors event
City of Cambridge Mayor Jan Liggett was proud to host the 2025 Ontario Auto Mayors Roundtable at Tapestry Hall earlier today. The event brought together key leaders from across Ontario’s automotive and municipal sectors to collaborate on advancing the automotive industry in Canada.
“Cambridge is proud to be at the forefront of Ontario’s automotive and manufacturing sectors,” said Mayor Jan Liggett. “Bringing together mayors, industry leaders, and partners allows us to speak with a united voice on the future of the auto industry. These conversations will help shape the policies, partnerships, innovation, and investments needed to ensure Ontario remains a global leader in automotive innovation and production.”
Auto Mayors is a unique forum for municipal leaders to advocate collectively for the future of Ontario’s automotive sector with the federal and provincial governments. Discussions focused on innovation, artificial intelligence, and the digital transformation shaping Ontario’s automotive manufacturing and supply chains. Key takeaways included collaboration to strengthen local supply chain resilience, workforce development for emerging technologies, and continued investment to maintain Ontario’s global competitiveness.
With a strong and growing manufacturing sector and as the home to one of Canada’s largest automotive manufacturing facilities – Toyota Motor Manufacturing Canada (TMMC) – Cambridge was a natural choice for this year’s event. More than 115 leaders took part, including mayors from across Ontario, senior municipal staff members, and senior representatives from the automotive industry along with keynote speakers from upper levels of government and local businesses.
“The Auto Mayors Caucus keeps growing in size, focus and impact,” said Rob Burton, Mayor of Oakville and Chair of the Auto Mayors Caucus. “Thank you to the City of Cambridge for hosting us and bringing mayors, industry and government together to protect and grow auto jobs and investment in Ontario.”
The Auto Mayors plays a critical role in aligning municipal advocacy efforts and encouraging investment to help sustain and grow the sector.
