2026 Municipal Election voting period begins tomorrow

The 2026 Municipal Election voting period officially opens tomorrow, September 26, giving eligible Cambridge residents an opportunity to vote online and in person ahead of election day.

Advanced voting:

Three in-person advance voting times and locations are being offered ahead of election day.

 October 6 to 10, 2026

Residents from across Cambridge are welcome to vote at any of these locations during advanced voting. Accessible voting equipment will be available at each location. On Election Day, voters will be required to vote at the locations within their assigned ward. The voting locations in each ward can be found at cambridge.ca/election

Online voting:

Online voting will be available 24 hours a day beginning September 26 at 10 a.m. It will remain open until October 26 at 8 p.m., giving residents more flexibility to cast their ballot. The process of online voting closely mirrors what happens when voting in-person. Before receiving a ballot, voters must ensure they are eligible to vote and confirm their identity.

Just as election staff would confirm an individual is on the voters' list when arriving at a voting location, the Voter Information Portal allows eligible Cambridge residents to confirm they are on the voters' list, review their information and request updates if needed. Residents may be required to provide government-issued identification and proof of address if submitting changes.

Similar to presenting identification to election staff at a voting location, online voters must verify their identity before gaining access to their ballot. Voters will be asked to upload a photo of an accepted government-issued photo ID, such as a driver's licence, Ontario photo card or passport.

Once a voter has confirmed their information and validated their identity, they can access their online ballot using their voting PIN. Voters will need an internet connection and a computer, tablet or smartphone with a camera to complete the process.
