Frequently Asked Questions

Are there lockers at the pool locations?
Yes, lockers are available at our pools. Locks are available to rent for $0.25, or you can bring your own lock. Locks must be removed daily.
What change room facilities are available?
Our pool facilities have age appropriate change rooms for children 6 years of age or older.
Can I rent a pool facility?

Does my child need to wear a swim diaper in the pool?

Water diapers are required for children who are not toileted trained.  Little Swimmers are available for purchase at our pool locations.

Please note that pool fouling results in a pool shutdown of 1 to 13 hours. The Ministry of Health enforces this regulation.

Do I need to shower before I enter the pool?
Health Regulations 565/90 states a cleansing shower with soap, from head to toe, must be taken before entering the pool.  We also ask that you take off your shoes before entering shower areas and pool decks.
What is the difference between Leisure Swim and Splash Swim?
A parent or guardian must accompany children under the age of 18 during Splash Swim activities.
Do the pools have a lost and found?
Yes, we keep items in the lost and found bins at both the John Dolson Centre and the W.G. Johnson Centre for one month. After a month, we clear lost and found items out of the facilities.
What is the pool water temperature?
We keep pool water temperatures between 82 and 84 degrees.
Do the outdoor pools have lockers?
A basket system is in place to protect your belongings at our outdoor pool locations.
Can I watch my child during swimming lessons?
We encourage parents and guardians to stay and watch their child's swimming lessons from the viewing area.  They are not permitted on the deck area during the lessons.
What level should I be in?

There are a few options to help find the right swimming level for you, including:

  • Previous progress reports with a swim instructor's recommendation
  • Swim level assessments during a Leisure Swim time
