Ride-A-Bus helps older adults build transit confidence

For the third year, the City partnered with Grand River Transit (GRT), the Waterloo Region Age-Friendly Network and the Cambridge Council on Aging to offer the Ride-A-Bus event, helping older adults build confidence and become more comfortable using public transit in Waterloo Region.

Held at the Ted Wake Centre, the free event gave participants a chance to enjoy light refreshments, learn how the transit system works and take a guided bus ride with support from GRT staff. Along the way, new riders could ask questions about routes, fares and how to navigate the system, making the experience welcoming, practical and easy to understand.

By creating a supportive first step for older adults, Ride-A-Bus helps reduce barriers to transit use and encourages greater independence, connection and access to programs, services and social opportunities across the community.
