Nomination period closes for the 2026 municipal election

The City of Cambridge confirms that all candidates for the upcoming municipal election have been officially certified and are now publicly available. Residents can view the complete list, along with candidate information at cambridge.ca/election

Waterloo Region – The paperwork is filed and candidates are now registered as Waterloo Region voters head to the polls this fall. Candidate nominations for the 2026 municipal election officially closed at 2 p.m. on August 21, 2026.

This year’s nomination period opened on May 1 and staff from each local municipality have reviewed and certified all nominations.

On October 26, voters will elect Councillors for regional, city and township councils, as well as Mayors for area municipalities and School Board Trustees.

The cities and townships will offer voters a range of voting options. Check your local municipal website to find what options are available to you. Many municipalities have scheduled advance voting dates prior to the October 26 election day.
