Flag Raising Ceremony in Honour of Portugal Day

The City of Cambridge is pleased to welcome members of the Portuguese community for a flag‑raising taking place at City Hall on Wednesday, June 10, 2026, in recognition of Portugal Day.

As part of our ongoing commitment to celebrating cultural and community observances, the Pride flag will be respectfully and temporarily lowered for the day, and the Portuguese flag will be raised to mark this occasion.

Cambridge is home to a large and long‑established Portuguese community, whose cultural, social, and economic contributions have helped shape our city for generations. This flag-raising offers an opportunity to honour that history and celebrate the vibrant presence of Portuguese residents who continue to enrich our community. The ceremony will take place today, Wednesday June 10, 2026, in Civic Square at 12 noon.

The city recognizes that the Pride flag holds deep meaning for many individuals and families in Cambridge. Its temporary lowering is part of our efforts to acknowledge wide range of cultural and heritage celebrations throughout the year. The Pride flag will be raised again tomorrow, Thursday, June 11.
