Councillor Reid was born in Woodstock and grew up on a farm in Eastwood. Her family moved to Preston when she was 16 years old, and she has lived in Cambridge ever since.

Donna is a retired teacher from the Waterloo Region District School Board, serving the last twelve years of her career as executive director of the Waterloo County Women Teachers’ Association. She sought election to Council as a way of giving additional service to her community. Donna values lifelong learning and achieved a professional certificate in Leadership for Elected Local Government Officials from the Schulich School of Business, York University in 2013.

Always grounded in the community, Councillor Reid served as President of various groups including the Cambridge Women’s Crisis Shelter, Planned Parenthood, the Cara Community Club, and the Waterloo County Women Teachers’ Association. She served on the United Way Board, HopeSpring Board, the Women’s Municipal Campaign School, and the Record’s Community Editorial Board.

Donna believes being a councillor involves city building. She has a vision of Cambridge that requires investment in projects that further our city’s prosperity and provides our people with opportunities for recreation, arts, culture, and healthy living.
