In Office: 2023 - Present

Helen Shwery was first elected to the City of Cambridge City Council in a by-election in November 2023.

Currently, Helen is the owner of Teeth First Dental Network. Helen has a background in fraud investigations and audit, with over a decade of experience in the field. She has worked closely with insurers, law enforcement, and regulatory bodies. Helen was a founding board member of the Canadian Health Care Anti-Fraud Association, which is now part of the Canadian Life and Health Association. She was also a member of the National Health Care Anti-Fraud Association.

Helen has been actively involved in her community, served on her condo board and was its past president for 6 years. She volunteered at the Grand River Hospital and currently volunteers at her church.

Helen values family time and cherishes being with her loved ones, especially her grandchildren. Helen has a passion for singing and has sung with Menno Singers and many church choirs. Helen believes in listening respectfully to taxpayers' needs, being transparent, and being a wise steward of public funds to make Cambridge a more beautiful and affordable place to live.

Helen loves her hometown of Cambridge and is passionate about preserving its natural beauty. Helen’s vision for the city's future reflects a blend of practicality, sustainability, and compassion.
