Portrait of Councillor Ross Earnshaw

In Office – 2022-present

Born in St. Thomas, Ontario, Councillor Earnshaw moved to Cambridge in 1977 where he still resides in Ward 4.

Ross earned his degrees in Music (Western, 1973), Science (York, 1974), and Law (Osgoode, 1977) and began his career as a lawyer. During his years of practice, he held executive positions with the Waterloo Region Law Association, the Law Society of Ontario, and the Federation of Law Societies of Canada. He also spent three years as a member of the board of the Law Foundation of Ontario, an organization devoted to increasing access to justice for vulnerable and marginalized elements of society. After 40 years, he retired from his position as a senior commercial litigation partner with the Gowling firm.

Closer to home, Ross served two terms on the Cambridge Public Library Board, including a time as its chair.  He sings in two local choirs, holds an executive position at his church, and, in his spare time, enjoys biking and hiking the trails in and around Cambridge with his life partner, Suzanne. Councillor Earnshaw has two adult sons who reside together in Ottawa.

Ross loves Cambridge, is passionate about his community and the people living in it. He encourages thoughtful development, protecting our growing neighbourhoods and the families living there.
