There are a number of ways City of Cambridge property owners can pay their tax bills.
Pre-authorized payments |
The City of Cambridge offers several pre-authorized payment plans for your convenience. These plans automatically withdraw your payment amount directly from your bank account. Complete an application form and include a void cheque to apply. Contact us to learn more about our pre-authorize payment plans. |
Pay through your bank |
You can pay your tax bill at your bank branch or through your financial institution's online or telephone banking services. You need your roll number to make a payment through your bank. If you are paying on the due date, please ensure you make the payment early enough that your bank recognizes it as paid on the current date. We recognize the date of payment for electronic transfers from the bank, regardless of date received. |
Pay by credit card |
The City of Cambridge allows you to pay your tax bill by credit card online or by phone. Pay online or call 1 (877) 810-7295. Please note that this is a third-party bill payment option. It's only available online or through the phone number provided. This option is subject to a convenience fee of 1.75% of your total payment. |
Pay by mail |
We accept cheque payments through the mail. Make your cheque payable to the City of Cambridge, print your roll number on the front of your cheque and include your tax bill stub with your payment. Mail your tax payment to: City of Cambridge Please do not send cash payments by mail. We accept post-dated cheques (dated for instalment due dates). Once received by our office, post-dated cheques can't be withdrawn from your account file. Our office must receive your payment by the due date to avoid any penalties or interest charges. |
Pay at the City Hall drop box |
You can make a tax payment in person by using the City Hall drop box at the Dickson Street entrance to the Administrative Offices. You can use the drop box at any time. Please do not make any cash payments using the drop box. Make your cheque payable to the City of Cambridge, print your roll number on the front of your cheque and include your tax bill stub with your payment. Our office must receive your payment by the due date to avoid interest charges. |
Pay in person |
Pay your tax bill in person at the Administrative Offices cashier counter on the main floor at: 50 Dickson Street Cambridge, ON N1R 5W8 Hours of Operation: Monday to Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. The cashier counter accepts cash, cheque or interac payments. Credit card payments are not accepted. |
My tax account information. How can I see it? |
The City of Cambridge offers online access to your tax account through the MYTAX portal. In order to register you will require account information including your access code. Once you have setup an account you may add additional properties and login to view and print account details. |
Other tax payment information
Keep these important facts in mind when it's time to pay your taxes:
- If your bank returns a cheque, we charge a fee to your tax account
- Keep your notice as your receipt for income tax purposes
- We charge a fee for duplicate receipts or statements of account
- Submit your entire tax notice with your payment in order to receive a receipt
- Receipts are valid only if the payment cheque clears your bank
- We add a 1.25% charge on the first day of default for late payments and on the first day of each month until the account is paid
- Received payments apply to all interest, penalty and other charges, and then to the oldest overdue taxes
