Supplementary tax billing
You may receive a supplementary tax bill when the value of your property increases due to a change, such as:
- An addition to the house
- The construction of a swimming pool
- The construction of a new building or a change in the class of the property.
The change can be backdated to when the change occurred, to a maximum of three years.
Some important facts about supplementary tax bills include:
- Supplementary taxes are in addition to other bills that you receive throughout the year
- Your supplementary tax bill can be due at any time during the year
- Your supplementary tax bill may be due with as little as three weeks' notice
- You can pay your supplementary tax bill in only one installment
You'll only receive a supplementary tax bill once the Municipal Property Assessment Corporation (MPAC) assesses your property and once the City of Cambridge receives that assessment information. There is no exact timeframe associated with this process.
