Cambridge Art Galleries, Idea Exchange
New this year! The Cambridge Art Galleries, Idea Exchange will be showcasing their outdoor light installation at their Queen's Square location. A Curious Landscape, crafted by artist Asli Alin, is a parametric sculptural installation inspired by the structures of honeycombs and crystals, composed of individual polyhedral modules that interlock to form an unexpected topography. This geometric configuration invites viewers to move around it, sparking curiosity and encouraging active engagement. The installation's appearance shifts with the ambient light, creating a dynamic interplay of colours and reflections. Its iridescent surfaces change hue based on viewing angle, enticing the audience to explore the piece from multiple perspectives. During the day, the panels mirror their surroundings, capturing the movements of passersby and integrating them into the composition. As a result, the piece offers an immersive, interactive experience that visually and experientially draws viewers into its environment. The installation will be on display from November 9, 2024 until January 5, 2025.
Volunteer with the Festival
Volunteers are an important part of Cambridge Winterfest's success. Multiple volunteer roles are available from November 22 to December 31, 2024. Volunteering is a great way to collect volunteer hours or to give back to your community. For more information or to apply visit our volunteer webpage.
