Volunteer with Winterfest

Multiple volunteer roles are available for Cambridge Celebrates Winterfest (formerly Christmas in Cambridge) between Dec 1 and Dec 31. Events take place outside so please dress warmly. Warm-up zones will be provided.  Volunteers must be 13 years of age or older. 

Winter Illumination Kick-off

  • Wed Dec 1
  • 3 locations; Cambridge City Hall (outside) - 50 Dickson St, Central Park - 615 King St E and Hespeler Town Hall - 11 Tannery St E. *Please indicate on your application which location is your preference 
  • Shift: 5 to 8 pm
  • Event is outside, please dress warmly

Cambridge Christmas Market

  • Sat Dec 11
  • Cambridge City Hall (outside) - 50 Dickson St
  • Shifts: various shifts from 6 am until 5 pm
  • Event is outside, please dress warmly

New Year's Eve Skate 

With the recent announcement from Region of Waterloo Public Health confirming cases of the Omicron variant among region residents, the community is being asked to reduce all non-essential contact with others. As a result, we made the difficult decision to cancel the Winterfest New Year’s Eve Skate event.

  • Hespeler Arena - 640 Ellis Road
  • Shift: 3 to 9 pm
  • Event is inside but the arena is cold so please dress warm

Volunteer roles/duties for Winterfest include; event greeter, mascot, mascot assistant, event setup/takedown and customer service . 

Important COVID-19 Information

  • To provide a safe environment for all, COVID-19 vaccinations or testing will be required of all festival volunteers. Volunteers will need to attest online that you are fully vaccinated, or have tested negative within 48 hours of each volunteer shift.  
  • Volunteers will be provided with a medical mask and goggles that must be worn during their shift(s).
