2020 Camp Payment Plan - Back by popular demand is our Camp Payment Plan. Your camp fees will be divided into equal payments based on when you register.

February 1 - 28, a total of 6 payments

March 1 - 30, a total of 5 payments

April 1 - 29, a total of 4 payments

May 1 - 30, a total of 3 payments

June 1 - 25, a total of 2 payments

Will be deducted from your credit card on the 1st day of each month. Please note, your credit card must be valid until September 2020. All camp payments will end and be processed August 1, 2020.

City of Cambridge camp staff are certified in Standard First Aid and CPR C & AED, HIGH FIVE Principles of Healthy Child Development and receive training on emergency procedures, safety and program planning.

 March Break Camp

March Break Camp will be offered at the W.G. Johnson Centre and the John Dolson Centre. Hours of operation are 8:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. with the option of extended care. Participants will engage in a wide variety of crafts and games, as well as will swim Monday, Wednesday and Friday. An offsite trip will be scheduled for Thursday.

 

Pack and Go Camp ages 8 - 12 years will be offered at the Hespeler Arena. The trip schedule is as follows:

 Before and After Care

Before and After Care is available at all locations.

Before care hours are from 7:30 - 8:30 a.m.

After care hours are offered from 4:30 - 5:30 p.m.

The fee for before and after care is $29.70 per week.

 Pack & Go! Ages 8 - 12

This fun filled and exciting adventure camp is for those aged 8 - 12. Parents will have a choice to drop off their children at Hespeler Arena or the Dickson Arena. Each week will be filled with full or half day adventures and activities throughout the Waterloo Region and the GTA. Staff and buses will leave each morning and arrive back at days end. Before and After care is available for an addditional fee. Due to the nature of this camp, please note that not all off-site trips are accessible. Please review the schedules below and contact the Recreation Coordinator, Child and Youth at 519-623-1340 ext 4554 to discuss accomodations.

 Ultimate Sports Camp Schedule

Ultimate Sports Camp is for children ages 6 - 12 and will be based out of Hespeler Arena. Participants will learn 2 - 3 different sports daily. Campers will swim three times per week at the W.G. Johnson Centre. Please note that staff and participants will walk to W.G. Johnson Centre from Hespeler Arena for swimming Monday, Wednesday and Friday.

Off-site trips will be scheduled for Thursdays of each week. Please see below for a listing of all excursions.

Leader in Training Camp  

Register for this fun-filled and exciting camp for those aged 13-15 years. By registering, and participating you will receive a HIGH FIVE Principles of Healthy Child Development Certificate, as well as a Standard First Aid & CPR C Certificate. You will spend one week learning about the City of Cambridge Summer Camps, Safety, Policies & Procedures, and Program Planning. Once successfully completed, you will be given two one-week placements within our Summer Camp Operations where you will earn up to 40 hours per week for your Community Service Hours, as well as be ready to apply as a Camp Leader in years to come! L.I.T.’s act as assistants to Camp Leaders, and will have the opportunity to put their classroom knowledge into a practical setting. Some responsibilities will include, programming for campers, assisting in water activities, and participate in off-site excursions. It is an exciting and rewarding experience appropriate for those who enjoy working with children.

Participants will spend July 6 - 10 at City Hall from 9 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. where they will receive inclassroom training as well as their certifications. Placements will be scheduled for July 13 - 17 as well as July 20 - 24.

Camp Volunteer

Are you 13 years of age or older and want to volunteer with camp?  Volunteers will be required to submit an application for the 2019 Summer. Volunteers will be interviewed, and will need to attend a one day Learn to Lead program. Successful volunteers will have a one week placement with an option to expand into two weeks pending a successful evaluation.   

Deadline to apply is Friday, May 29.

Inclusion Volunteer

Volunteers provide support to children, youth and adults with disabilities. This program provides support to anyone who requires varying levels of assistance to access and participate in both municipal programs. Volunteer positions include; swimming lessons, recreation programs, special events and camp support.

Hespeler Arena Speciality Camps. Please see below for all of the Specialty Camp Programs that we offer.

 Summer Sport and Golf Camp - Ages 6 -12

The City of Cambridge has partnered with Cambridge Golf Club to offer this new and exciting program. Participants will be bused each day from 9 a.m. to noon to Cambridge Golf Club where they will receive instructional golf lessons by professionals including driving, chipping and putting. The afternoons will consist of a variety of sport focused activities and games.  

Extended care is available for an additional fee.

 Summer Sport and Archery Camp - Ages 6 - 12

The City of Cambridge has partnered with Triggers and Bows to offer this funfilled adventure camp. Each morning, participants will receive professional archery lessons from 9 a.m. to noon. The afternoons will consist of a variety of sport focused activities and games.  

Extended care is available for an additional fee.

 Summer Sport and Skating Camp - Ages 4 - 12

New to skating? Looking to further your skating abilities?

Led by a professional skater and with the assistance of our camp leaders, participants will receive on ice skating instruction each day.

Taught by the professionals of Little Medical School, particpants will learn about the field of medicine. Through interactive learning, campers will discover how the body and organs work, how to use medical instruments, and how to adminster first aid.

 Focus on Nature Photography Camp - Ages 8 - 12Focus on Nature Logo

Those aged 8 - 12 will develop their photography skills while exploring the natural beauty of the outdoors. Participants will have a chance to edit their images, make a slideshow and take home some of their best photos. Cameras and latops will be provided.

 Grandview Public School - Inclusion

This program is designed for children with various disabilities to come to camp with siblings and friends. Programming is delivered by specially trained inclusion facilitators to best suit the need of each camper. Each week campers will enjoy two presenters/entertainers. Registration for Sunblast/Imagination Station will begin Saturday February 1, 2020.

Centre for the Arts Specialty Camps
The Cambridge Centre for the Arts offers a wide variety of full-day and half-day camps in the creative arts. Pottery, filmmaking, drawing, sewing, animation and more! Ages 6-12, before and after care options also available. Learn more on the Arts Centre website.

Registration Information

Age requirements
In compliance with new legislation, all children must be a minimum of four years old or a program's specified minimum age requirement by the first day of the program. All children must be fully toilet trained and be able to take care of their own bathroom needs.
Support and Accommodations

Please note that the 2020 summer camp accommodation and support is on a first come first serve basis. A Participant Information Form (PIF) and an All About Me Form are required to be completed and submitted prior to Monday June 1, 2020.

Severe allergies, inhalers and medical conditions

Please provide any relevant medical information when you register your child for a program. If your child has a severe allergy or must use an inhaler during program hours, you must submit the Emergency Participant Allergy Alert form and an EpiPen Release form. These forms provide information needed to ensure you child is well cared for.

If your child needs to take any oral medications during program hours, a Medication Administration Form must be completed and submitted prior to the first day of camp.

Please be aware that we are a nut free camp.

Fee Assistance

Activities for Less Fee Assistance

The City of Cambridge is committed to providing assistance to cover part of the cost of City-run recreation programs and memberships for families and individuals who can't afford to participate in these activities.

The Activities For Less program is for permanent Cambridge residents only.  Eligibility is based on total household income.

Eligible programs - Programs run directly by the City of Cambridge, Parks, Recreation and Culture Division which include:

  • aquatic lessons (private/semi-private lessons are ineligible)
  • individual memberships for youth, student, adult and senior (some exceptions
  • registered program

Ineligible charges - fee assistance cannot be used for manuals, exam fees, program supplies or administrative fees

Apply for Activities For Less

  1. Complete, sign and date the fee assistance application form.
  2. Attach copies of current  tax year Revenue Canada, Income Tax Notice of Assessment for all adults in the household (copies only)
  3. If income is $0 you must still provide a copy of Revenue Canada, Notice of Assessment
  4. If the Assessment does not show your current address please provide proof of same

Please note - If your application is approved, you will receive a confirmation letter in the mail (allow 15-20 business days). Incomplete applications will be returned.

Applying for fee assistance does not guarantee approval

Fee assistance must be approved before registering and may not be applied after.  You must apply annually for Activities for Less.  Fee assistance starts from the date of approval for one full year.  Subsequesnt applications are accepted no earlier than 3 weeks prior to the expiry of current approved fee assistance.
