Several facilities, pools, halls, rooms, sports fields and arenas are available for booking or rental to the public.

Arenas

There are multiple arenas available for ice rentals in the City of Cambridge. Arena's rentals are also open for non-ice events, such as lacrosse and floor hockey, in the summer months.

Ice rentals rates are based on peak and non-peak hours.

Peak hours:
Monday to Friday, 5:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m.
Saturday and Sunday, 8:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m.

Non-peak hours:
Monday to Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
Monday to Sunday, 10:00 p.m. to 12:00 midnight

Pools

There are multiple indoor and outdoor pools available for rent in the City of Cambridge. Pool rentals are available evenings, weekends and weekdays depending on programming.

City of Cambridge swim admission standards apply.

Halls and Meeting Rooms

There are also a number of banquet halls, meeting rooms and convention centres available for rent from the City.

Details and rules for hall and room rentals for Hespeler and Preston arena halls include:

  1. Hall rental times are from 1:00 p.m. to 1:30 a.m. Monday to Sunday. Wedding receptions may start at 10:00 a.m.
  2. You can purchase liability insurance. (Contact us for more details)
  3. You must have two Smart Certified bartenders for an event. In addition smart serve monitor(s) are also required.  Three for Hespeler banquet hall and one for Preston banquet hall.
  4. A 50 per cent deposit is due within 14 days of booking a hall. See below for rental rates.
  5. The balance of the rental cost is due 14 days before the scheduled event.
  6. Cancellation less than 30 days before the event will result in no return of your deposit; between 30 to 60 days before your event will get you back 50 per cent of the deposit; over 60 days before the event will get you the full deposit back.
  7. Rental costs for non-alcohol events (Sunday to Thursday) vary depending on attendance numbers. 
  8. Our PA system is available for minor hockey and seminars. This is free.

Mill Race Park

Rentals are now being taken for 2024.

Mill Race Park is the only park in Cambridge that you can reserve for wedding ceremonies or wedding pictures. All other parks are available for photo taking on a first come, first serve basis.

Minimum of $2 million liability insurance is required for Mill Race Park rentals.  This may be purchased through the City of Cambridge or proof of insurance must be provided by rentee with City of Cambridge listed as Additional Insured, at time of payment.  Insurance fee included in rates listed below.

Facility allocation

Sport facility allocation follows the Council Approved Sport Facility Space Allocation Policy.

Seasonal requests must be via the allocation application process as outlined in the user group package. Failure to do so may result in exclusion from the standard allocation process. Facility space will be allocated in the following order:

1. Licensee
2. Large Special Events
3. Municipal
4. Special Events, Tournaments, and Meets
5. Minor Sport Organizations
6. Community Organizations
7. School Boards or Community School groups
8. Adult group/Private User
9. Commercial group or Non-Resident
