 ISO 37120 Platinum Certification

ISO LogoOn Friday, Dec. 16, 2016, the World Council on City Data (WCCD) officially recognized the City of Cambridge with ISO 37120 Platinum certification. This award is given to cities who reach the highest standard in collecting and sharing data, and using it for effective decision-making.

The ISO certification is made up of 100 indicators around 17 themes of city sustainability and quality of life. It is awarded to cities based on the recommendation of an independent third-party verifier who reviews city data.

Cambridge's membership in the WCCD gives the City the opportunity to compare best practices with other cities and actively participate in a worldwide organization that uses standardized metrics to find solutions to shared problems.

 Canadian Award for Financial Reporting

The Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA) has honoured the City of Cambridge with the Canadian Award for Financial Reporting two years in a row for the City's annual financial report ending December 2015 and 2016.

The Canadian Award for Excellence in Financial Reporting Program encourages and assists Canadian local governments to go beyond the minimum requirements and prepare annual financial reports that model transparency and full disclosure.

Program award submissions are reviewed by a committee of GFOA professional staff, experts in Canadian public-sector financial reporting, independent auditors, academics, and finance professionals.

 Waterloo Region Healthy Workplace Award

Healthy Workplace Award LogoOn October 27, 2016, the City of Cambridge was awarded the Waterloo Region Healthy Workplace Award. The award recognizes employers who demonstrate a strong commitment to improving the health and wellbeing of their employees. 

Led by a staff wellness committee, the City of Cambridge encourages employees to participate in heath challenges, clinics, mental health seminars and team-building exercises to improve the quality of life for all staff.
