Special Notices

There is still ample parking located directly across the street from this location. The next phase of construction is underway between Wellington St and Shade St. The road will be closed for the duration of construction but pedestrian access to properties will be maintained. The underground works are almost complete with watermain commissioning for the second section underway. Final connections are expected to begin next week.Asphalt paving is set for on or about December 13.

Impacts to business owners

Pedestrian access to all businesses and residences will remain for the duration of the project. Vehicle access will be maintained on Lutz Street from Wellington Street only. The Main Street lot will remain open for the duration of the Union Gas work; however it will be closed as a required contractor staging area during the City’s project duration. Alternate parking locations are shown in the Galt City Centre map.

One issue of critical importance to the City of Cambridge is controlling construction to minimize disruption to the neighbourhood while the work is being completed.

Road reconstruction and underground servicing is often disruptive, noisy and dusty. At times, vibrations from compaction equipment will be felt within the adjacent buildings. To address these disruptions, water and calcium chloride are used for dust control and construction activity is limited to daylight hours after 7 a.m.
