Farmer's Market Renovations

Project overview

The Farmers Market building is a designated heritage building as a property of architectural and historical significance. The Farmers' Market building has held the farmers' market since 1887.

The intent of the project is to provide an interior renovation of the ground floor Farmers' Market building, as well as certain structural bracing work to two existing chimneys and within attic spaces.  This project is based on requests of the health inspector. By completing this project, the City continues to maintain the integrity of the building, and prevents further deterioration of the building, increased maintenance costs and safety issues, and potential closure of the building.

Project goal

Maintain operation of the facility and achieve construction cost goal

Outcome

During construction Farmers’ Market operated every Saturday without disruption to existing operations.  This project was completed slightly below the construction budget.
