The current service provider for affordable housing in the City of Cambridge is the Region of Waterloo. Cambridge City Council is working on a number of incentive-based programs to create more affordable housing.

*COMING SOON* Affordable Housing Community Improvement Plan (CIP) – Expansion of Project Area
The City is proposing to expand the project area of the existing Affordable Housing CIP. The expansion is being funded through the federal Housing Accelerator Fund Program. The following incentive programs are proposed to be included in the updated CIP:
- Waiving Planning application fees (e.g. Official Plan, Zoning By-law amendment and site plan applications)
- Waiving Building Permit fees
- Preconstruction Grant
An Information Report was presented to Council on October 8, 2024. A Statutory Public Meeting was held on November 12, 2024. A final version of the Affordable Housing CIP will be presented to Council December 17, 2024.
