Following a competitive procurement process, last evening, Cambridge City Council awarded the Riverside Grandstand Restoration Phase 1 project to Elgin Contracting and Restoration Ltd. from St. Thomas, ON.

The total estimated cost of this first project phase is $437,413. 66% is financed from the Facility Maintenance Reserve Fund and 34% from the Gas Tax Reserve Fund.

The Riverside Grandstand was closed in September 2020 due to the condition of roof. Restoration work will include the high roof replacement (including decking), any damaged timber beam replacement, along with cleaning and painting the steel framing.

Work is expected to begin in the spring of 2022, as the project is weather-sensitive. The Riverside Grandstand will remain closed and monitored by Parks staff until work commences.
