Waterloo Region – Additional shutdown restrictions announced by the province today will impact City and Township services and amenities.

All local municipalities continue to work together to follow the direction of federal, provincial and regional public health experts to ensure the health and safety of the local community.

Outdoor recreation and amenities

Beginning Saturday, April 17 all outdoor recreational amenities, such as basketball/tennis courts, soccer fields, playgrounds, and golf courses will be closed with limited exceptions.

Residents should stay close to home when outdoors for exercise and not gather with people from outside their household. Recreation facilities such as pools, arenas and community centres will remain closed.

City and Township staff will analyze provincial regulations once available by the province to gather more details, including whether additional park amenities are closed.

Municipal Farmers’ Markets

Cambridge and Kitchener Farmers’ Markets will remain open as an essential source of food. Capacity will be reduced from 50 per cent to 25 per cent.

Weddings/funerals

Weddings and funerals, including those held at municipal facilities, are now limited to 10 people, indoors or out.

Residents are encouraged to delay any non-essential business with their respective municipality or to consider conducting business online or by phone, where possible.

All emergency services and essential regional and municipal services will continue.
