Celebrating newcomers with virtual event, Welcome Cambridge

Posted on Wednesday November 11, 2020

The City of Cambridge is pleased to launch a new interactive map, welcoming and celebrating newcomers to Cambridge. Welcome Cambridge” is a virtual event space featuring cultural performances from local artists, a virtual information fair with more than 30 vendors for newcomers, and an activity centre for family-friendly, socially-distanced activities in Cambridge.

Welcome Cambridge also maps out local services – community services, faith and cultural organizations, arts, recreation and more – making it easy for people to discover all that Cambridge has to offer right in their own neighbourhood.

The virtual event space was created in partnership with multiple local agencies, all committed to welcoming and celebrating newcomers, immigrants, and refugees in Cambridge.  Participating organizations include: Immigration Partnership Waterloo Region, Conseil scolaire Viamonde, Conseil scolaire catholique MonAvenir, Kitchener-Waterloo Multicultural Centre, Cambridge Neighbourhood Organizations, YMCA Settlement Services, Idea Exchage and the City of Cambridge.

Everyone is welcome to explore the map, newcomers and long-time residents alike, to learn more about the diverse services the city has to offer.
