In an effort to support and promote our local restaurants and small businesses that continue to provide services in creative ways to our community during the ongoing COVID-19 situation, the City of Cambridge has developed an online #OrderFromHome resource page and a #DineFromHome crowd-sourced map

On the #OrderFromHome page, you can find links to your favourite businesses offering physical distancing friendly products and services to our community. This list will continue to grow and develop. Please email us at invest@cambridge.ca to include your business.

The #DineFromHome map relies on information submitted by resident foodies and the business community to collectively highlight restaurants currently offering takeout, delivery and/or curbside services.  We encourage everyone to help us populate this map.

“While the pandemic is having a significant impact on the restaurant and retail industry, many businesses in Cambridge have been quick to innovate and to offer take-out and delivery options, and we want to help get the word out,” said Mayor Kathryn McGarry. “We are proud to support our local businesses – many of which are small and family run – that are following public health requirements in terms of physical distancing and offering contactless delivery and curbside pick-up.”

Businesses and individuals can also join the City’s social media campaign which will launch today by downloading branding from the page and sharing on their websites or social media channels to encourage others to #DineFromHome.  A Cambridge-specific #ShopFromHome social media campaign will launch soon.

Public safety remains the City’s top priority. Region of Waterloo Public Health provides information and support to owners and operators on how to prevent the spread of disease and infection in their restaurants. If you have questions or concerns about food safety, infection prevention or sanitary conditions of a business in Waterloo Region, please contact the Region of Waterloo.

#SupportLocal

There are many ways to support our local business community without making a purchase, and we are encouraging our community to rally around these establishments in any way possible.

  1. Leave a positive review – tell the world about the positive experiences you’ve had and what makes this business an amazing establishment.
  2. Like, Comment and Share on Social Media – by engaging with a small business online, you are helping them build their audience of potential customers.
  3. Use their promotional products – if you’ve received a t-shirt or mug from a small business use it, take a picture and tag them online.  Brand recognition is key for businesses just starting out.
  4. Recommend them – if you have an opportunity to refer a customer to a business, seize it.  Word of mouth advertising is important for small businesses.
  5. Reach out – connect with the business on a personal level, even a simple thank you for a great past experience can make a difference when times are tough.

Let’s work together to support our local business community!
