Celebrate #FathersDayAtHome or outdoors in Cambridge
It’s Father’s Day this weekend and there are plenty ways to celebrate at home and outdoors in beautiful Cambridge.
Our #RecFromHome team has created a series of Father’s Day gift and craft ideas for kids. The handmade activities include a special Father’s Day message, a “The Art of Dad and Me” creative picture, a photo collage, and a colouring page.
For Cambridge youth, there is a photo contest running on the City’s youth Instagram page asking teens to submit a picture of their dad doing something that makes him a superhero. Find all activities listed at www.cambridge.ca/recfromhome.
As the city slowly re-opens, it’s exciting to have a few more outdoor options for the weekend. Parks, trails and green spaces are open for walks and picnics. Families can play tennis or basketball on our courts. Many local shops are open to find that perfect gift and a number of restaurants are now serving up brunch on their patios.
For restaurants that don’t have a patio, you can still treat dad to a favourite meal. Find our map of restaurants open for takeout and delivery at www.investcambridge.ca/orderfromhome.
Father’s Day is also a time to celebrate those dads who are no longer with us. We know that many people will be visiting city cemeteries at this time and we want to ensure that these visits happen safely. We urge visitors to keep COVID-19 precautions in mind and attend the cemetery in groups no larger than 10 people. Please also wear a face covering or mask if physical distancing isn’t possible.
We encourage the community to strike a balance between at-home and outdoor activities and to keep safety top of mind. Physical distancing should still be maintained and residents should continue to follow pandemic guidelines and precautions.
