City seeks public input on future of two bridges in Mill Race Park

Posted on Monday November 20, 2023

The City of Cambridge is asking the public to weigh in on the future of two bridges in downtown Galt’s Mill Race Park.

The two bridges have been closed since last year, following a structural engineering review that found them to be unsafe and recommended they be removed or rebuilt.

There are three options being considered for the bridges and the public is being asked to share which of the three options they prefer:

  • Permanently close and remove both bridges
  • Rebuild both bridges
  • Rebuild one bridge and close and remove the other

Should only one bridge be rebuilt, this would be bridge 3, as outlined in the map. This is because bridge 2 has an incline that is too steep and does not meet accessibility requirements.

Public input will be shared to help determine the preferred option and will be presented to Council for a final decision in March 2024.
