City recruiting placemaking volunteers

Do you have a passion for placemaking? The City of Cambridge wants to hear from you!

Placemaking is about imagining, creating, and transforming public spaces that bring people together.

Cambridge City Council has approved a budget of $150,000 for a Placemaking Study and Pilot Project. The goal is to provide a shared and creative space within Downtown Cambridge that makes the community proud and attracts people to the core to live, work and play.

We are looking for creative and innovative people to join the Placemaking Working Group (PWG) to help guide the creation of a Placemaking Study.

Funded through the Core Areas Transformation Fund, the PWG will collaborate with a consultant to complete a study to identify areas that are available and appropriate to develop placemaking projects. The PWG will present recommendations to Council on placemaking possibilities in Downtown Cambridge.

This eight-month volunteer opportunity will begin in April with construction on the final placemaking project to be completed in fall of 2023.

Residents who are interested can visit the City Committees and Boards page and apply before March 24th at 4:30 p.m.
